For the second consecutive season, Joseph Phillips advanced to the Wrestling IHSAA Semi State at East Chicago HS.
Phillips, wrestling at 285 pounds, was vying for a trip to the IHSAA State Finals next weekend.
In the opening round, Phillips got the upper hand against his Lowell opponent and with 30 seconds remaining in the opening period, Phillips got the pin for the victory.
Moving to the quarterfinals, Phillips would need the win to reach the ticket round. It took Phillips and his opponent from Portage to decide a winner. Unfortunately Phillips was unable to get the win and was pinned in the final 30 seconds of the third period.
With the loss, Phillips’ season and the season for Adams comes to an end with a record of 17-12.
Adams finished tied for 28th overall in the Semi State with a total of 4 points.
Congratulations on a great season and a great career Joe!
