The 2020 IHSAA Boys Swimming and Diving Tournament kicked off on Thursday night for the Boys Swim team in the Mishawaka Sectional Preliminary Trials. As a result of the preliminary events, Adams will advance in two finals events and two relays in the consolation finals for Saturday afternoon’s finals. The top 8 finishers in each event advance to the finals and the next 8 to the consolation finals.
Senior Brendan Quinn advanced to the finals in two individual events. Quinn first advanced in the 200 Freestyle. He finished 7th on Thursday with a time of 1:53.54. Quinn also advanced to the finals in the 500 Freestyle as well. Quinn finished 7th in the 500 Free as well in a time of 5:13.39.
Quinn will also be swimming in two consolation finals as well as part of a relay team. The 200 Freestyle Relay consisting of Quinn, Alexander Macharaschwili, Fernando Sanchez, and Miguel Sanchez Castaneda swam a time of 2:01.92, which was good for a 10th place finish in the event.
The 400 Freestyle Relay will also swim in the consolation finals after a 9th place finish. Quinn, Sanchez, Sanchez Castaneda, and Macharaschwili finished in a time of 4:34.11.
The swimmers will also be joined by the two Adams divers who will open competition on Saturday. Diving preliminary trials begin at 9:00 AM and Finals in all events will begin at 1:00 PM at Mishawaka HS.
