The post season began for the Boys Basketball team as they began their quest to reach Bakers Life Fieldhouse. The Eagles opened up play on Wednesday night in the IHSAA Sectional hosted by LaPorte HS, taking on the Mishawaka Cavemen. While Adams easily defeated Mishawaka earlier in the season, Tuesday night was a much closer contest.
The tempo was much slower and much more deliberate from each team. Mishawaka was able to get out to a lead over the Eagles in the first quarter. Trailing by 3, Adams needed to get it in gear both offensively and defensively. Adams was able to turn things around, shutting the Cavemen down, holding them to just 6 points in the second quarter and going on a run to retake the lead by half time. The second half was close on the scoreboard, but it was Adams, and their athleticism that has aided them so many times this season that went on to help the Eagles win the game. Adams outscored the Cavemen again in the 4th quarter to secure the win with a final score of 52-39.
Brayden Saxton led the way for Adams, finishing the night 5 for 6 from the free throw line and scoring 15 points. Chuck Worsham and Sydney Jefferies both scored 10 points each to help in the win. Lynn King scored 8 points, Quentez Columus scored 7 points, and Jessie Morgan made 2 points.
The win moves Adams into the Sectional Semifinal on Friday night. The Eagles will face Michigan City HS at 7:00 PM CST / 8:00 EST.
