It was a near perfect morning weather-wise on an excellent course for cross country on Saturday morning for the Adams Girls Cross Country team. The Lady Eagles were taking part in the inaugural Minutemen Classic at Oxbow Park.
As a team, the young Adams squad finished in 12th place overall with a score of 288. Eight runners ran for Adams in the varsity race, with the top 5 scoring.
Lexi Lawwill and Delaney Packard were the top two runners for Adams in the race. Running neck and neck down the final stretch, Lawwill finished in 45th place and Packard in 47th place overall. Lawwill’s final time was 22:25 and Packard was just behind in 22:26.
Addison Skube was next for Adams in 63rd place with a time of 23:26. Olivia Purcell finished in 24:16 which was good for 78th place. Betsy Leija finished in 90th in a time of 24:52 to round out the scorers for the Lady Eagles.
Monica Caponigro finished in 93rd in 25:19, Taylor Schmidt was 101st in 26:08, and Rajiya Weaver finished with a time of 28:04.
There was no team score for the Junior Varsity team as they only had 4 runners in the race and 5 were needed to score. Marianna Anderson was the top finisher for Adams in the JV race, finishing in 34th place with a time of 26:45. Izzy Camilleri finished in 28:22, Daisy Maciel in 28:33, and Betzaida Adorno finished in 29:18.
Adams will compete again next Saturday in the New Prairie Invitational
