The week has been good for the Girls Basketball team, earning another home win on Saturday in non conference action. After defeating rival SB Riley earlier int he week, Adams won in a thriller over Morgan Township 52-47.
The Eagles got out to a fast start, building up a lead on Morgan Township. Adams maintained that lead through the half, despite a few attempts where Morgan Township. The Eagles defense held strong.In the second half, Morgan Township began to close the gap with Adams, and threatened to take away the Adams lead. Adams never faltered and remained calm under the pressure, edging out for the win.
Marissa Shelton was the leading sorcerer in the game, ending the morning with 15 points. Shelton was also 4 for 4 on free throws and made 3 three point shots. Makiah McCain also had a big game for Adams hitting 6 field goals on her way to 12 points in the game. Whitney Marshall scored 7 points, Jayne Kelly and Samaya Sigur both had 6 points each, Laila Williams scored 4 points, and Lazia Walker made 2 points.
The win in the second in a row for Adams, which is now sitting at 2-4 for the season. Adams will play next on Tuesday night when they travel to take on Penn in Northern Indiana Conference play.
