The Girls Basketball team closed out the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a non conference game against Chesterton. It was a nail bitter to the end, as both the Eagles and Trojans battled it out throughout the entire game. Adams would fall to Chesterton in the final minutes with a score of 49-51.
Adams got out to a strong start in the game, taking control early and forcing Chesterton to adapt and respond to the Eagles. Adams enjoyed the lead throughout the entire first half, and held it several times throughout the second half as well. In the final minutes of play, it was still anyone’s game. A couple key free throws from the Trojans put Chesterton up in the final seconds to seal the game.
Marissa Shelton was the leading scorer for Adams in the game. Shelton ended the game with 11 points. Makiah McCain and Laila Williams had an impressive effort, both scoring 10 points each. Jayne Kelly scored 9 points, Samaya Sigur scored 5 points, and Whitney Marshall and Lazia walker both scored 2 points each.
Adams ends the regular season with an overall record of 6-14 and 2-8 in the Northern Indiana Conference. Adams will play in the IHSAA Sectional Semifinals on Friday night.
