Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball Defeats Mishawaka to Advance to Sectional Finals


The Girls Basketball team won its way into the IHSAA Sectional Championship game on Friday night when they defeated the tournament host Mishawaka Cavemen 36-32 in the Sectional Semifinals. The Lady Eagles will move on to play LaPorte for the Championship on Saturday night.

Adams got out to a strong start in the game, controlling the pace of play both offensively and defensively. The Adams defense was strong all night, putting full court pressure on the Cavemen on every possession. The defense was able to force 22 turnovers allowing Adams to capitalize on the mistakes. Late in the game, the Adams lead was narrowed, and with Mishawaka within one possession of scoring, clutch free throws from the Eagles helped Adams secure the victory.

Laila Williams led Adams in scoring, ending the night with 10 points. Jayne Kelly scored 9 points, Marissa Shelton scored 8 points, Lazia Walker had 6 points, Whitney Marshall scored 2 points, and Samaya Sigur scored 1 point.

The Eagles and Slicers will tip off for the Class 4A Mishawaka Sectional Championship at 7:00 PM on Saturday February 6.
