The Girls Swimming and Diving team competed over the last few days in the IHSAA Sectional Championships at SB Riley High School. When all the action wrapped up on Saturday afternoon, the lady Eagles finished in 3rd place with a score of 360 points.
It was a great day for the Eagles, breaking records, and having individuals move on through the State Tournament.
On Friday night, Lindsay Gizzi set a new Sectional and Pool Record in Diving. Through her 11 dive, Gizzi finished with a score of 527.70, breaking a Sectional record that had been in palace since 1988 and the pool record she had broken earlier this season. Gizzi finished as the Sectional Champion and qualified for the Diving Regional on Thursday. Along with Gizzi, Katie Hensell finished as the Sectional Runner Up in Diving, qualifying for the Regional as well with a score of 415.10.
In the pool on Saturday, Adele Zyniewicz broke three school records as well as earning a trip to the IHSAA State Finals next Friday. Zyniewicz set School records in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, and 100 Butterfly. Zyniewicz finished as the Champion in the 100 Fly with a time of 55.69, earning herself a trip to State. Zyniewicz finished as runner up in the 50 0Free with a time of 23.69, meeting the State Standard in that event. Her split of 51.75 in the 400 Free relay was good for her record in the 100 Free.
The remainder of the team competed well in their events, with many bettering their times from the prelims just two days earlier. The 200 Medley relay of Elisa Nerenberg, Lyza Kricheff, Sofia Frazee, and Zyniewicz finished as the runner up in 1:53.04.
Nerenberg was 6th in the 200 Free, finishing with a time of 2:06.69. Ciara Humeston was 9th in 2:14.75 and Yvette Burton was 11th in 2:16.31.
Kricheff took 4th in the 200 Individual Medley, finishing in 2:17.57. Melany Morales-Garibay was 12th in 2:33.58 and Daniella Morales Garibay was 14th in 2:39.00.
Also finishing in the 50 Free was Addison Skube in 9th in 26.99 and Cecilia Frazze in 10th in 27.18.
Avery Curtis also competed in Diving on Friday, finishing in 8th with a score of 292.30.
M Morales Garibay was 11th in the 100 Fly in 1:08.64 and Ivie Skube finished in 12th in 1:08.73.
Swimming in the 100 Free, A Skube finished 8th in 59.54. S Frazee was 9th in 59.05 and Burton was 12th in 1:00.73.
Nerenberg took 6th place in the 500 Free, swimming a time of 5:43.29. Adelyn Rabbitt was 11th in 6:08.36 and Olivia Thompson swam 6:25.17 which was good for 15th place.
The 200 Free relay of C Frazee, S Frazee, Burton, and A Skube finished in 3rd with a team time of 1:47.71.
In the 100 Backstroke, Kricheff finished in 5th place with a time of 1:02.33. D Morales Maribay was 10th in 1:10.46 and in 12th was Rabbitt in 1:10.81.
S Frazee finished in 5th in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.77. I Skube finished 10th in 1:20.71 and Ellie Linarello was 11th in 1:20.82.
The 400 Free Relay of Zyniewicz, A Skube, Nerenberg, and Kricheff finished in 3rd place with a time of 3:47.96.

Gizzi and Hensell will compete in the Diving Regional at Valparaiso HS on Tuesday February 9 and Zyniewicz will compete in the State Final Prelims on Friday February 12
