The Softball team took to the road on Friday night to open up the 2021 season in its first game in almost 2 years. While the bats were hot for the Lady Eagles, Adams fell short of winning in the game, losing to Ft Wayne Carroll 3-5.
Adams got things rolling in the top of the second, when Emmalyn Zielinski hit a solo home run to start off the inning and put the Eagles on the board first. The action continued in the third inning as well. Adams got the bases loaded with three base hits from Haleigh Smith, Gabby Kovac, and Hailie Charmat. Smith would score when Emily Kidwell was walked and Kovac went on to score in the next at bat on a passed ball to put Adams up comfortably 3-0.
Despite the Chargers scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the third, Adams was not out as the Eagles still played tough, loading the bases in the top of the fourth inning. Despite being in striking distance, Adams was unable to score the needed runs to take the lead back.
Adams had three runs off of 6 hits. Zielinski had 1 run off 2 hits, 1 RBI and a solo home run; Smith had 1 run off 2 hits, Kovac had 1 run and 1 hit, Grace Schell had 1 hit and Kidwell had 1 RBI.
