After a big opening night at home, the baseball team took to the road on Saturday to try and notch another win, this time over the Fairfield Falcons. It was a much lower scoring affair than the night before, but Adams came out the victor, defeating Fairfield 3-1.
While the Falcons would go on to score first in the game, Adams would stay calm to retake the lead. The bottom of the 3rd proved to be good to the Eagles, with 2 runners on base and in range of scoring. A ground out from Vian Mariani allowed Drew Stultz to score and tie the game. On the very next play, Nate Bolin hit a fly ball out to right field, and Cardenas would score to take the lead for Adams.
In the 6th inning, Adams would add another run to seal the game. Tre Fonseca had a big double that brought in Brenden Foster all the way from second base.
Bryce Martens had the win from the bump, going 6 and ⅓ innings where he allowed only 1 run and 2 hits and struck out 10 batters.
For the Eagles in the game, Stultz had 1 run, Cardenas had 1 run and 1 hit, Cody Barnes had 1 hit, Mariani had 1 hit and 1 RBI, Bolin had 1 hit, Foster scored 1 run and had 1 hit, and Fonseca had 1 hit and 1 RBI
Adams moves to 2-0 for the season. The Eagles will play next April 12, opening up NIC action for the season.
