After getting a win in the opening game of the LaPorte Tournament over Lowell, the Softball team advanced to play Hobart in the winners bracket. Once again, the Lady eagles struck first, but needed extra innings to secure the 4-3 victory.
Adams got their first run in the first inning. Haleigh Smith got the run for the Eagles on a ground out hit by Brady Lesher. Adams opened up the lead even more in the second inning. Emily Kidwwell hit a double to get things rolling, and then ended up scoring in the next at bat on a ground out from Klaudia Gill. Adams got behind as the game went on, but a well timed double by Gabby Kovac in the 7th inning brought new life for the Eagles. Kovac would score next on a single from Smith to tie it up. In extra innings, Emmalyn Zielinski was placed on second and was able to advance to third and within reach of taking the lead. A pop fly from Grace Schell brought in Zielinski to score.For Adams, Smith had 1 run, 2 hits, and 1 RBI; Lesher 1 RBI, Zielinski 1 run and 1 hit; Schell 1 hit and 1 RBI; Kidwell 1 run and 1 hit; Gill 1 RBI; Kovac 1 run and 2 hits.
Zielinski was the winning pitcher in the game. Zielinski allowed 11 hits and 3 runs and struck out 6 batters.
With the victory, Adams advanced to the Championship game against the host LaPorte Slicers.
