The Softball team earned 2 wins over Lowell and Hobart in the LaPorte Tournament which put the Lady Eagles in the Championship game taking on LaPorte. Despite needing extra innings in each of the previous games in the day, Adams did not need them in the championship game as Adams went on and defeated LaPorte 9-4.
LaPorte had the early lead in the game, but Adams came back in big 5th and 6th innings when the bats got hot. In the 5th inning, Adams loaded up the bases and scored 2 runs off a hard ground ball from Brady Lesher. Gabby Kovac and Haleigh Smith scored for Adams. Two more runs to extend the lead to 4-1 came when Olivia VanHeesbeke and Lesher scored on a line drive single from Kacey Browning out to right field. Jenna Trimberger, Kovac, and Smith all scored 3 quick runs in the 6th inning. VanHeesbeke and Lesher would add 2 more runs with a Browning single and Adams held on to the lead to close out the game. For the Eagles, Smith had 2 runs, 2 hits, and 1 RBI; VanHeesbeke 2 runs, 1 hit, and 1 RBI; Lesher 2 runs, 1 hit, and 3 RBI; Browning 2 hits and 4 RBI; Grace Schell 2 hits; Trimberger 2 hits; Kovac 2 runs.
Hailie Charmat was the winning pitcher in the game, pitching 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, and striking out 3 batters.
Adams went 3-0 for the day to win the LaPorte Tournament. Congratulations Softball on the Championship!
The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Monday afternoon when they host Elkhart.
