The Friday Night Lights returned tonight as the Adams Eagles traveled east to Middlebury to take on the Northridge raiders in the season opener for both teams.
The Raiders scored quickly twice in the first quarter taking the early 14-0 lead.
The Eagles began to gain momentum late in the 2nd quarter. The defense put the pressure on Northridge pushing them back and eventually forcing a fumble recovered by Claude Neeley. With 3:12 left in the half, the Eagles drove 31 yards, with the score coming from a 1 yard run into the end zone by Miguel Zyniewicz.
During the second half the Eagles offense continued to put the pressure on the Raiders driving down the field several times but only reached the end one once during the third quarter with a rushing touchdown coming from quarterback Ira Armstead.
While the team did not take the victory the defense put up several quality stops throughout the fourth quarter, preventing the Raider offense from advancing down field.
The Eagles fell with a final score of 21-12.
The team begins the season 0-1 (0-0 NIC).
The home opener is next Friday as the Eagles welcome Lowell (MI) and play the teams first game on the newly improved and renovated TCU School Field.
